February 4th saw a new Master being installed into the chair of St Augustine’s Lodge. W Bro Mike Payne was last installed into the chair of this Lodge in 2008 but it soon became apparent that time had not dimmed his passion for Masonry. The Presiding Officer, W Bro David J Shakeshaft, DepPGM, complemented the Lodge on the standard of the ceremony and wished W Bro Mike a happy, healthy and busy year. The Lodge was blessed with over 20 visiting Brethren which produced a lively and vibrant atmosphere in the Lodge room which continued into the Festive Board where the charity collection and raffle raised a total of £475 for Fisher House, which will be increased to £500 from the Lodge Charity account.
A very enjoyable evening was had by all attendees with several visitors expressing their thanks for the invitation to a memorable evening.
special thanks must go to the Provincial AGDC, W Bro Glynn Jones, for stepping in to help the Lodge when their Dc had to cry off due to illness. his contribution was vital to the smooth running of the whole evening.
